Echoing the state of the world, the driving force behind HIGANBANA \u2014a Japanese flower symbolizing a moment of transition or passage\u2014 lies in the intentional creation of poetic, fragile, and sensitive spaces, choreographically inhabited by four women of different ages and backgrounds.<\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\">The writing process for HIGANBANA draws on the grammar of Japanese filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu: the treatment that he applies to movement, voice, light, and framing provides the playground for a set of cinematic-choreographic rules.<\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\">Through a precise choreographic ritual, a pictorial or even cinematic space emerges live before the eyes of the audience, using various mobile frames and assembled fabrics.These small, miniature \u201ctheaters,\u201d crafted in plain sight, are offered to the viewer, each time generating a new choreographic fiction in which the feminine takes center stage.<\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\">Composed of ritualized everyday actions, this quartet poetically explores the notion of passage\u2014as a time of crossing\u2014 recalling the work of Penelope. While the aim is not to transpose a purely cinematic work onto the stage, the intention is to embrace the sculptural, architectural, and naturalistic qualities at the heart of Ozu\u2019s oeuvre, in an attempt to develop a stylistic form that, in its own way, responds to the concept of impermanence\u2014a central notion in Japan that values the present moment and the ephemeral nature of all things.<\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\">The range of silence and breathing that belongs to Ozu\u2019s filmography, the distinctive performance style he demanded of his actors, as well as the symbolic d\u2019affects, ce quatuor travaille po\u00e9tiquement la question du passage \u00e0 travers la figure f\u00e9minine\u2026laquelle se r\u00e9v\u00e8le selon l\u2019exp\u00e9rience des 4 femmes d\u2019\u00e2ges diff\u00e9rents en pr\u00e9sence au plateau. <\/span><\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\" style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"><span style=\\\"font-size: 20px;\\\">Le processus d\u2019\u00e9criture d<em>\u2019HIGANBANA<\/em> puise dans la grammaire du r\u00e9alisateur japonais Yasujiro Ozu*\u00a0: le travail du mouvement, de la voix, de la lumi\u00e8re, du cadre, propres au cin\u00e9aste, deviennent le terrain d\u2019un jeu de r\u00e8gles <em>cin\u00e9-chor\u00e9graphique<\/em>.<\/span><\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\" style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"><span style=\\\"font-size: 20px;\\\">Pour autant, il ne s\u2019agit pas de retranscrire une \u0153uvre cin\u00e9matographique au plateau, mais de s\u2019emparer de sa mati\u00e8re plastique, architecturale, naturaliste\u2026 pour tenter de mettre en \u0153uvre une forme stylistique qui r\u00e9pond \u00e0 sa fa\u00e7on, au concept d\u2019impermanence (concept pr\u00e9gnant au Japon qui privil\u00e9gie l\u2019instant, le caract\u00e8re \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re de chaque chose)*.\u00a0La question du rituel, de la transformation dans la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition, de ses variations temporelles, viennent figurer des pr\u00e9sences chor\u00e9graphiques qui tendent vers l\u2019\u00e9pure\u2026.<\/span><\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\" style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"><span style=\\\"font-size: 20px;\\\"><em>Plut\u00f4t qu\u2019une histoire superficielle je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re montrer des choses cach\u00e9es, plus profondes, l\u2019instabilit\u00e9 des choses humaines, j\u2019ai pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 laisser des espaces vides comme un arri\u00e8re-go\u00fbt plaisant.<\/em> -Yasujiro Ozu<\/span><\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\" style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"><span style=\\\"font-size: 20px;\\\">Un univers plastique tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9sent, s\u2019\u00e9laborera \u00e0 partir d\u2019une r\u00e9flexion sur le cadre, la lumi\u00e8re, et viendra architecturer ces images-tableaux dans une pure vis\u00e9e \u00e9motionnelle, tandis que la <em>bande son<\/em> d\u00e9ploiera des climats musicaux contrast\u00e9s voire parfois h\u00e9t\u00e9roclites.<\/span><\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\" style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"><span style=\\\"font-size: 20px;\\\">Ainsi, les espaces de silence et de respiration propres \u00e0 la filmographie d\u2019Ozu, mais aussi le jeu des actrices et acteurs de ses films, ou bien encore l\u2019approche symbolique de chaque d\u00e9tail sc\u00e9nographique, sugg\u00e8rent un espace de fiction \u00e0 inventer, o\u00f9 se joue en creux un travail sur les \u00e9motions et leurs silences.<\/span><\/p><p class=\\\"_texte_page\\\" style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"><span style=\\\"font-size: 20px;\\\"><em>Emmanuelle
